Weekend of Celebrations - St Patrick's Day and Mothering Sunday

This coming St Patrick's day, The Old Cannon Brewery launches its newly brewed Gunport Stout, in time for the Irish celebrations!

Named Gunport Stout with an ABV of 4.4% - it is soft, mellow and mild with hints of chocolate of the nose, and oatmeal on the palate. It was developed by our brewer Chris Waters, who was assisted by Tim Mc Ginnis. Tim is a member of the bar staff, and also a keen amateur brewer.

Our owner, and Stout lover Garry is delighted with the brew - especially as it was so well received by our customers who tried it during it's development. He tells us that it’s easy to drink, and not too heavy for a stout.

To show our true Irishness, we will also be offering traditional Irish Tayto crisps (flown in especially from the Emerald Isle), and will have a special Irish stew available on the day.

Then, on Sunday we have a full day's activities.

For lunch you can treat your mum to a three course meal for only £20 per person. The menu features soup, salads, pasta, fish choices, or our delicious Sunday roast. See our website for the full menu.

Then on Sunday evening we have our monthly pub quiz - £5 per team to enter (maximum of 4 to a team) and proceeds going to charity. There are 5 general knowledge rounds, 1 specialist round on advertising slogans and then a topical round on famous mums! Registration is at 7.30pm - but we suggest you get there a bit early to secure a table.

We are going to be busy this weekend, so come and say hello! We look forward to seeing you..
